Resident Assistants
International Student?
You are welcome to apply to become a Resident Assistant. However, please be aware that the hours you work as an RA each week are counted towards you maximum working hours permitted under your Australian visa conditions.
Employment conditions
Resident Assistants (RAs) and Senior Residential Assistants (SRAs) are employed as casual staff members under the Curtin University Enterprise Bargaining Agreement 2022-2025 (EBA).
A copy of the EBA is available on the University website and the relevant section addressing RA and SRA terms is included at clause 17.3.
National Police Certificates
Because the RA role involves access to keys and fellow residents' units and bedrooms, we require all successful applicants to obtain a National Police Certificate (NPC) which contains a list of a person’s disclosable court outcomes and pending charges from all Australian police jurisdictions. We will explain how to obtain your NPC at the appropriate time, but we may be able to accept another certificate you have obtained in the last 6 months.
All Welcome
Research shows that candidates from underrepresented groups (Aboriginal, Torres Strait and Pacific Islander peoples, People of Colour, women, non-binary and gender diverse people, LGBTQIA+ communities, and people living with a disability) often do not apply for roles if they do not meet all the criteria – unlike majority candidates meeting significantly fewer requirements. We strongly encourage you to apply if you are interested, we would love to know how you can amplify our team with your unique experience.
